Just before the Avast installation process finishes, a confirmation screen will appear as follows:
to activate the Registration screen.

Step 1. Click the Yes button.
If your computer is currently connected to the Internet:
- Choose Restart Later and continue to section 2.1 How to Register Avast
- Follow the steps to update the virus database in section 3.1 How to Update Avast
- Restart the computer. Avast will check it for viruses before any programs are started
If your computer is not connected to the Internet:
- Choose Restart now on the final installation screen. Be sure to follow the instructions below next time you are online, to register and update Avast. Your computer will now automatically reboot itself.
Note: If you do not register Avast (because you have no Internet connection), it will stop working after 60 days. Remember, you can also perform the registration process at an Internet cafe and write down the registration code to use on your own computer when you return home. To do this, you will need to visit the Avast Web site and find the Registration page. The address of the English version of this page is currently http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.php.
2.1 How to Register Avast
Note: You need to have an Internet connection when registering Avast.
When you install and run Avast for the first time, you will be presented with the Registration screen as follows:

Step 1. Click the Program registration... link to continue. Your web browser will open and bring you to the Avast Registration page.
Step 2. If you did not register Avast the first time you ran it, you can easily activate the Registration screen: Select Start > Programs > avast! anti-virus > avast! anti-virus
When Avast starts, it will begin scanning your internal memory (this process usually takes up to 20 seconds, but could take longer on slower computers) for viruses:

Step 3. Click:Reminder: If you are connected to the Internet, the Program registration link will open the Avast registration page in your web browser as follows:

Step 4. Select I'm a new user and I need a registration key for avast! Home Edition
This activates registration form web page as follows:

After you have completed and submitted the required information, Avast will send a registration code to the email address you entered. Copy that code, enter it into the Registration screen and click the OK button. You will get a message saying that the license key has been successfully installed and the Avast main screen will activate itself.
